I am again grateful to Libby Purves at Faith Central for bringing the following to my attention. It is a flowchart reproduced in a book called The Wages of Sin: Sex and Disease, Past and Present. The flowchart lists the questions that, according to medieval penitential manuals, you had to ask yourself before engaging in sex. I promise, it will bring a smile to your face if it doesn’t make your jaw drop!
Click here. Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays are out, but Monday might be ok.
The flowchart originally appeared in Brundage, J.A. (1984) Law, Sex, and Christian Society in Medieval Europe. Chicago: University of Chicago Press.

Doggone, I never knew sex was so complicated!
It just makes me B…. angry!
Thanks for bringing it to our attention.
